Wisteria sinensis Common Wisteria - The Chinese Wisteria It has branches that are wound in a clockwise sense. Its leaves are composed of 7 - 13 leaflets. The plant can reach up to 40 meters high and the trunk, if supported to a wall, can grow to over 80 meters in length. Lilac / violet flowers, scented, with long clustered bunches, almost 20/30cm. A very abundant plant with a glamorous, 'show off' type aspect. The flowering begins 2nd or 3rd year if reproduced vegetatively and much later if reproduced by seed. |
